1958 Höfner 500/1 sunburst

Very Good condition, 7/10, Made in Germany, including modern Höfner hardcase, oversprayed finish on the body with scraping marks, original finish on the neck, super rare bass with vertical logo, flat back (used until 1962) and Cavern spaced pickups (late 56 until 1962) but what proves this is a 1958 is that this was the only year (with rectangular control plate and vertical logo) these came with 20 frets (55,56 and 58 had 20 frets, 1957 had 21 frets, from 1959/1960 22 frets), square control plate (started in 1957), no logo on body (started in 1957), pre truss rod (which came later 1958), lots of dents and wear in the finish and a deep worn divot above the bridge pickup from resting a thumb perhaps?, the Preh pot date is 519S which means week 51 of 1959 (probably it shipped late since all the other specs are 1958) but we are not sure what the S means, more details as follows:
- the original knobs have lost their metal tops but a set of repro knobs are included
- missing pickguard
- the tailpiece has the tiny badge which was only used for a short period of time and mostly 1957 and earlier but also known to appear later
- replaced modern bridge
- the neck has a slight bow as expected but is very playable after service at the AdLib workshop in Stockholm
- worn finish on the back of the neck
- no trussrod (the trussrod first appeared during 1958)
- replaced tuners (should have strip tuners)
- 2pc black covered pickups
- vertical Hofner logo on the headstock
