Här är info från Vemia där jag köpte den ifrån:
"This is a wonderful piece of audio history, and
an incredible example of hand-made
engineering. It's also one of the rarest mixers
in the world - the total in this whole 'Longden
desk' BBC series was just one for each region,
and this, the 'three-piece suite', the most
elaborate and expensive of them all, had just
one other example. For general info see
http://www.orbem.co.uk/longden/longden.htm
This actual desk or its sister were used for the
1968 BBC Proms concerts - basically the most
demanding outside broadcast music series in
the world. That might explain the absurdly
huge number of mic amps for a 12-channel
desk - there are no less than 37 classic BBC
AM/9/5 mic amps in the right-hand rack.
Please see the photos for what else is
contained. That includes eight classic AM/1/4
'Response Selection Amplifiers' - a nicer name
than EQ. (http://www.bbceng.info/ti/eqpt/AM1_4.pdf ) -
and see a later lot for what the insides of
these beautiful EQ modules look like. There
are also loads of line amps and internal send
amps, plus another mic pre.
All five sections of the desk are connected by
extremely heavy-duty multi-core, easy to
connect thanks to the brilliant engraved
labelling. The cabling is complete, a little dirty
but in good condition. The sockets are in good
condition but in many cases have lost their
retaining catches - not a great problem unless
you are relying on this desk to broadcast to
millions. The whole desk is sold as seen,
because it has not been powered up for ten or
more years. When we did have it all
interconnected, the signal-to-noise ratio didn't
seem what one would expect from a broadcast
console, so either it needs servicing or we
didn't understand some of the somewhat
esoteric rules the BBC had then for
impedance, levels, etc..
Please assume that this will need a
considerable amount of expert servicing to get
it into 100% condition. It comes with a nice
selection of classy jack leads, many of them
brand new but vintage style. It would be a
travesty if this was broken up for its modules,
so please don't do it, even if it does look like
immediate profit could be made just by taking
out the pre-amps and EQs - let alone all the
other hand-made bits, the quadrant faders,
meters, etc etc.
It is in very pleasing cosmetic condition, very
good indeed considering it is 45 or more years
old.
