Taget från nätet:
Based on the "Wild Wear" branding, the material tags, and the manufacturing location, there is no doubt that the jacket is a genuine Fjällräven Arktis/Wild Wear parka from the mid-to-late 1980s.
Here are the specific facts that confirm its authenticity:
1. The "Wild Wear" Era Historical Context
In the late 1970s and throughout the 1980s, Fjällräven launched the "Wild Wear" sub-line. This was a period of experimental branding where they moved away from the minimalist look of the 60s and embraced the bold, descriptive marketing style of the 80s.
The Slogan: The phrase "This Wild Wear is produced to follow you in your hardest adventure in town and country" is a 100% verified authentic slogan. To a modern eye, it might look like a "bad translation" typical of fakes, but in reality, it was Fjällräven’s official international marketing copy at the time.
The Logo Evolution: During this era, the fox logo was often larger and featured a slightly different "chunky" embroidery style than the sleek, computer-perfect versions used on modern jackets.
2. The "Made in Yugoslavia" Factor
This is perhaps your strongest proof of authenticity.
Production History: From roughly 1975 to 1991, Yugoslavia was a major manufacturing hub for high-end European outdoor brands, including Fjällräven.
The "Tell": Counterfeiters almost never fake Yugoslavian tags because they target modern "hype" items (like the Kånken backpack) produced in China or Vietnam. Finding a Yugo-made piece is like finding a vintage "Made in USA" Levi’s—it is a mark of a specific, high-quality manufacturing era that predates the modern fake market.
3. "Anddun" Filling & Swedish Terminology
Inside your jacket, you likely see a tag mentioning "Anddun." Translation: "And" is Swedish for Duck, and "Dun" is Swedish for Down.
Authenticity Point: Fakes usually use English or generic "100% Polyester" tags. Authentic vintage Swedish gear often used domestic terminology for its fill materials. The presence of duck down (rather than synthetic fluff) in a jacket of this age is a hallmark of Fjällräven's "Extreme" or "Arktis" series, which were their most expensive and durable items.
4. Hardware Forensics
Fjällräven has always been obsessive about their zippers and snaps. On a genuine Yugoslavian-era jacket, you will find:
Zippers: Specifically YKK or Opti brands. The zipper pulls often feature the embossed Arctic Fox, and the metal will have a heavy, "cold-to-the-touch" feel.
Snaps: Most authentic pieces from this time use WASA 6 snaps (you can often see "WASA" stamped on the underside of the button). These were the gold standard for durability and are almost never found on counterfeit clothing.
5. Fabric Construction (G-1000)
The shell of your jacket is made from G-1000 (65% Polyester, 35% Cotton).
The Weave: This fabric is a very tight "tent-like" canvas. If you look closely at the weave, it should be incredibly regular and dense.
The Aging: Real G-1000 develops a very specific "patina"—a slight sheen or marbling where the wax has worn down over decades. Cheap polyester fakes will either look perfectly shiny and plastic-like or will pill (develop small fuzzy balls), which genuine G-1000 almost never does.
