Advantages of the Greaten 300 Pro Compared to Other EWIs
1. More realistic breath control response. Many players praise the 300 Pro for having a very sensitive breath sensor, smoother dynamic transitions, and less “lag” between airflow and sound. This makes it feel closer to playing a real sax or flute than some EWIs that rely heavily on velocity based triggering.
2. Physical keys instead of touch plates. A lot of EWIs (Akai EWI series, for example) use capacitive touch keys. The Greaten 300 Pro uses mechanical keys, which offer tactile feedback, better control for fast passages, fewer accidental triggers, a more familiar feel for sax/clarinet players. For many acoustic wind players, this is a big deal.
3. Built in speaker with surprisingly usable volume. Most EWIs either have no speaker at all, or include a tiny practice speaker that’s barely audible. The 300 Pro’s built in speaker is louder, clearer, and actually usable for practice without headphones. It’s not a performance speaker, but it’s far better than the norm.
4. Large internal sound library. The Greaten 300 Pro includes a wide range of onboard sounds, often more than similarly priced EWIs: saxes, clarinets, flutes, trumpets, strings, synth leads, pads. While not all sounds are world class, the variety is excellent for the price.
5. Strong connectivity options. Depending on the version, the 300 Pro typically offers USB MIDI, Bluetooth MIDI, Line out, Headphone out, and MicroSD card support. This makes it easy to use with DAWs, soft synths, hardware synths and iPad apps. Many EWIs at this price point lack Bluetooth MIDI or SD card support.
6. Long battery life. The 300 Pro often gets 8–12 hours of play time, which is longer than many EWIs that rely on smaller internal batteries.
7. Very strong price to performance ratio. This is one of the biggest advantages. The Greaten 300 Pro offers features normally found in much more expensive instruments, making it a favorite among beginners, hobbyists, acoustic wind players trying EWI for the first time. It’s often considered one of the best “value” EWIs on the market.
