Not too sure I really want to sell, but as the project feels finished, it doesn’t get driven enough and now there’s a baby on the way, it felt like the right time to see if there’s any interest out there.

- Full M-sport spec from factory

Mechanicals:
The car drives really nicely. Strong engine, smooth gearbox and refreshed suspension. Comes with good service history
In the last year these are the jobs I’ve done:
- Full service including brake fluid, spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter and cabin filter.
- Completely overhauled the cooling system (the m52’s Achilles heel) with new waterpump, thermostat, thermostat housing, radiator, expansion tank, both auxiliary belts and full coolant flush with distilled water, then fresh coolant.
- New brakes, disks and pads, front and rear.
- New summer tyres, Yokohama Advan Fleva - a nice fast road tyre.
- New battery.
- Suspension overhaul - brand new H&R cup kit, which is a fast road springs and damper combination. They’re very slightly lower than standard springs, giving the car poise without it looking modified and they are only slightly stiffer than the standard suspension; improving the handling but not harsh like a lot of cheap lowering springs. Also new top mounts front and rear along with new drop links front and rear. New engine mounts and new track rods + track rod ends.
- Induction kit - I’ve done my best to make it look as tasteful as possible! - It of course does nothing for performance but it gives it that extra bit of sound that was missing. I’ve still got the original airbox and filter should you prefer.
The car feels super tight, sounds great and handles beautifully!
The body:
The car cleans up really nicely. The paint in is good condition and all the right parts are there. It’s no show car with a few small dents and scratches here and there but for the age and milage I think it’s done very well. It’s survived pretty well from rust. Being an e36 there are signs of some previous repairs and a little bit of surface rust here and there but all of the jacking points look good and are nice and solid - I’ve used them all recently when I changed the suspension. The summer wheels are original and absolutely mint. It also comes with good winter tyres on z3 wheels.
The interior:
The interior is actually one of the best parts of the car. Apart from a small hole in the driver seat bolster, the interior genuinely feels brand new. It has the original radio which is a nice touch. Non of the control knobs are showing signs of wear. Everything works, including the A/C which is lovely and cold. It comes with the original leather bookpack with all the manuals and there are 2 keys, both with working remote buttons.
During the year and a half that I’ve owned the car, my mission has been to make the car as good and as original as it can possibly be without spending silly money on full restoration. As a qualified mechanic with a passion for 90’s analog cars, I feel like I’ve achieved that.
As I said, I’m not sure I really want to sell the car (writing this add has made me want to sell it even less) but now feels like the right time, but only for the right price. I’ve priced it at what I would be happy to get for it. If I can’t get the right price, I’ll be more than happy to keep it in the garage, even if it doesn’t get driven enough!
