Renault Megane

Selling my Renault Megane Grandtour. Engine and transmission in good condition, but it recently failed the Swedish inspection (kontrollbesiktning) due to rusted brake lines and uneven rear braking. Because shop labor rates in Sweden are too high, I am selling it as a repair project (repobjekt) or parts car for someone handy.

CRITICAL TIMING: The car is legally drivable until July 13, 2026, before an automatic driving ban (körförbud) kicks in. You can easily drive it home if you buy it before this date!

🟢 The Good (Excellent Engine & New Parts)

• Low Mileage: Only 180,000 km on the odometer.
• Healthy Engine: Runs smoothly, does not burn extra oil.
• 2025 Replacements: Brand new alternator and rear shock absorbers/pads installed last year.
• 2023 Replacement: Brand new rear left brake caliper.
• 2021 Replacement: Brand new rear right brake caliper.
• 2025 Replacement: Brand new pair mud / snow Front Tyres.

🛠️ Repairs Needed to Pass Inspection

The car needs to be repaired and re-tested to clear the inspection protocol. It requires:

• New Brake Lines: Needs replacement of the rusted longitudinal rear right and front left lines.
• Brake Pads: Most likely due for a fresh set of pads to clear the uneven braking balance note.

🔍 Minor Quirks (Non-Critical / Non-Inspection Issues)

The car has had these minor electronic and cosmetic quirks for years. None of these affect the vehicle inspection safety pass:

• Driver’s Window: Permanently closed (switch/motor issue, will not roll down).
• Rear Wiper: Broken/not functioning.
• Rear Right Brake Disk: Scratched (recommended to swap when replacing the pads, but has passed the last 2 inspections needing only brake pads).
• Headlight Washer: Reservoir is leaking. I keep it empty, have never needed it.
• Maintenance: Due for a standard routine oil and oil filter change.
