MTX MC31

The MC31 is a no compromise high performance sail racer. Through careful analysis of equipment, construction materials and processes, McConaghy Boats have been able to realise the best performance outcome per money spent. The MC31 will outperform much bigger and more expensive boats.

With no rating rule constraints McConaghy have designed a clean hull with good form stability due to its deep keel and high ballast ratio. This all aids in the philosophy of bringing an exciting raceboat with the opportunity to participate in anything from local races to ocean racing on the open sea.

The carbon fibre rig and rigging is standard from Southern Spars as are the carbon fibre elliptical stanchions. The two-spreader mast is in two sections for easy stowage and towing and comes with a standard mast jack for easy rig tuning.

Certainly it is a great boat that would suit a sporty sailor who is serious about sailing and also both wants to go out and day sail with friends. and who is serious about racing. It is easy to rig, easy to sail and a lot of fun while forgiving for any mistakes made. You could take non-sailing friends out without them getting in the way while having the ride of their life.

The boat's previous owner participated in the HP30 Class in southern England for a few seasons. For this, some changes were made to better measure up to the IRC rule. Equipment was removed from the boat, including the engine and the diesel tank. The keel was shortened by 20 cm to a draft of 240 cm. Overall, the boat became 250-300 kg lighter than in its original condition.

The boat also comes with a trailer for transport. The boat can be towed by a pick-up or light truck with a trailer weight of up to 3500 kg. The keel can be lifted up to facilitate handling and transport on the trailer.
