Distinguished by its short, and iconic double-hump tonneau cover. The 1989 Porsche Speedster was designed as a lightweight, racy homage to its 356 ancestor, the Speedster was reintroduced after a 35-year absence in a limited production run between January and August 1989. With only 1, 943 widebody Speedsters produced, this one-year-only model is becoming increasingly desirable, with many examples quietly disappearing into private collections.
This particular car was sold new on June 6, to its first owner by Autohaus Süd Hülpert in Dortmund. It was delivered in the beautiful and rare "triple black" specification (exterior, and wheels) and came equipped with sought-after options including a 40% self-locking axle, sports seats with headrests for both driver and passenger, and the stunning wider Turbolook bodywork. The car remained in Germany until MOTIKON acquired it in June 2024, with stamps in the original service book evidencing regular maintenance in four cities: Ingolstadt, and the outskirts of Cologne.
The Speedster is incredibly well-preserved, with the paintwork believed to be original, measuring between 118-135 mm across the entire surface, except for a small repair to a rear wheel arch.
As part of our standard procedure for all our vehicles, MOTIKON conducted a thorough mechanical inspection and addressed every issue identified, ensuring the car is as sound mechanically as it is cosmetically. In conclusion, we present a highly original, relatively low-mileage 3.2 Speedster in the sought-after widebody configuration. Included in the sale are the owner’s manuals, and tool kit.
