Robin Day Forum for Habitat – Matching 3-Seater + 2-Seater Leather Sofas
Selling my much-loved matching pair of Robin Day Forum sofas for Habitat, consisting of a 3-seater and a 2-seater in dark brown leather.
The Forum sofa was designed in 1964 by Robin Day, one of the most important British furniture designers of the post-war period. Day was a pioneer of modern, functional furniture and is perhaps best known for bringing good contemporary design to a much wider public. His work is represented in major design collections and has become closely associated with British mid-century modernism.
Forum was originally designed for Hille and is one of Day’s most distinctive upholstered designs, combining a strong architectural wooden outer frame with soft leather cushions and slim metal supports. The design was later reissued by Habitat, bringing this 1960s classic to a new generation.
These particular sofas were purchased new from Habitat around 2006 and retain their original Habitat labels.
They feature:
* Dark brown leather upholstery
* Beautiful exposed wooden outer frames with distinctive finger-jointed corners
* Chrome metal legs and supports
* Loose, generously padded seat and back cushions
* A striking design that looks particularly beautiful from the back as well as the front

2-seater

Condition
Both sofas remain structurally very good and extremely comfortable. The frames are solid, the supporting webbing is intact and the cushions have retained their shape well.
They are approximately 20 years old and have been used and loved, so there is some cosmetic wear. The leather has some surface marks and cat scratches, and the wooden frame has several marks/abrasions caused during previous moves, particularly on some of the rear and upper wooden sections. I have photographed these areas clearly so the condition can be seen accurately.
There are no major tears to the leather and no structural problems.
I have owned these sofas since new and am selling them only because we are moving. I would particularly like them to go to someone who appreciates the design and their history.
I would preferably sell the matching pair together, although separate sale can be discussed.
Price:
3-seater: 11,500 SEK
2-seater: 8,500 SEK
Pair: 17,900 SEK
