A rare opportunity to own a true vintage watch with incredible polar exploration history!
Up for sale is a highly collectible Croton Nivada Grenchen Antarctic from the 1950s. This model became legendary after being selected as the official issue watch for the U.S. Navy’s South Pole expedition, "Operation Deep Freeze" in 1955–1956. It was specifically engineered to withstand extreme temperatures, magnetic fields, and shocks.This specific example is a "double-signed" variant featuring both Croton (the US distributor) and Nivada Grenchen on the dial, making it highly desirable for collectors.
The dial features the iconic Art Deco numerals (12, 3, 6, 9), faceted triangular arrowhead markers, and classic dauphine hands. It retains its historically accurate bold, angular lugs and original winding crown layout.

Crystal: Clean acrylic crystal with faint surface swirls and hairline scratches that can easily be polished out.
Movement: Runs smoothly and automatic winding works.
