The Wellard Middle Monitor is a speaker system produced by Wellard Research from 1985. They were constructed with a hybrid of lead and wood casing (weighing up to 42 kg each, including the size of the main magnetic driver) and had their own built-in speaker preamplifiers.
Phil Collins started using the Wellard monitors for home recording & monitoring during the Invisible Touch era in 1986/87, which probably replaced the JBL's he used previously. He grew fond of the monitors, and would even recommend them to Midge Ure.
