The DOD Acoustic 1 is a dedicated acoustic guitar preampand multi-effects processor designed to enhance and shape the tonal character of acoustic instruments. Housed in a durable red metal chassis, the Acoustic 1 integrates analog and digital circuitry to deliver preamplification, tone control, and a wide range of studio-quality effects tailored to the needs of acoustic performers. Its design accommodates both stage and studio use, combining a responsive analog front end with digital signal processing for modulation, delay, and reverb effects.
The unit includes both factory and user memory banks, offering 30 factory programs and 30 user-programmable slots for storing custom setups. This allows players to access preconfigured acoustic treatments or create and save their own effect chains. The internal processing provides a range of tone-shaping and enhancement options, from subtle ambience and compression to more complex layered effects such as chorus and stereo delay. The Acoustic 1 also includes a built-in chromatic tuner, accessible when the signal is bypassed, and supports external control through an expression pedal input for real-time level or parameter adjustment.
Its effect architecture includes a full 3-band EQ with sweepable midrange, a notch filter for feedback control, a noise gate for maintaining clean signal performance, and multiple time- and modulation-based effects. The preamp section is tuned specifically for acoustic pickup systems, though the unit can also be used effectively with electric guitars.
Controls
Input Level Knob- Adjusts the signal gain for the instrument input, optimizing headroom and signal-to-noise ratio.
Output Level Knob- Sets the overall volume of the processed signal.
Program Selector Buttons / Up-Down Switches- Navigate between 30 factory presets and 30 user-created presets.
Parameter Edit Controls- Modify effect parameters such as depth, rate, time, or level depending on the selected effect.
3-Band EQ Section- Provides bass, mid, and treble controls for tone shaping.
Notch Filter Control- Tunes a narrow frequency band to eliminate feedback without affecting overall tone.
Noise Gate Control- Sets threshold to suppress unwanted background noise or pickup hum.
Compressor Control- Balances dynamics, adding sustain and consistency to the guitar signal.
Modulation Section Controls- Adjusts parameters for chorus, flanger, phaser, tremolo, or detune effects.
Delay and Reverb Controls- Configure delay time, feedback, and reverb level for ambient processing.
Bypass/Tuner Footswitch- Engages the chromatic tuner when the unit is bypassed.
Store / Save Buttons- Used to write custom effect configurations to user memory slots.
