Chair 69 is one of Alvar Aalto’s best known chair designs. It was first introduced in 1935 and has stayed in production ever since, which says a lot about how well the design works.
This chair has a natural birch frame and a red lacquered seat, which gives it a nice bit of contrast without feeling too bold. The bent birch legs are a classic Aalto detail and make the chair feel light, while still being sturdy and practical for everyday use. It works well around a dining table, at a desk, or as an extra chair in different spaces.
