The Mullard EL34 XF4, produced around 1979 at the Blackburn, UK factory, is widely regarded as one of the last true, high-quality, British-made EL34s before the shift towards foreign production (often E. European) for the brand. These tubes are characterized by their "staple plate" or "crimped plate" construction, which differs from the earlier, highly sought-after XF1 and XF2 "double-getter" or "spot-weld" plates.
