DESCRIPTION
This is a genuine antique chandelier – not a reproduction or later decorative piece.
Beautiful and authentic antique crystal chandelier dating from the late 19th century, circa 1885–1900. The chandelier is constructed in solid brass with a naturally aged patina and richly decorated with hand-cut crystal prisms arranged over multiple tiers.
The crystal consists of long spear-shaped prisms and oval intermediary crystals, all showing clear signs of hand craftsmanship rather than later industrial production. The variation in cut, thickness, and drilling suggests high-quality crystal, likely of French or Bohemian origin.
Originally designed for candlelight, as evident from the form of the candle arms and drip pans. Electricity has been added at a later stage, which is typical for chandeliers of this period and allows for practical use today without compromising the historical character.
The overall impression is elegant, well balanced, and representative of late Empire / early Neoclassical style. A striking piece suitable for a period apartment, high-ceilinged interior, stairwell, or as a contrasting statement in a modern setting.
The chandelier has not been polished or restored; the original patina has been preserved. Normal age-related wear consistent with an antique object.
